Best Books to Gift a One Year Old
If there is one thing Little Miss A and I love to do, it is to go hunting for the perfect books to gift others. Books were our favorite kind of gifts to give and receive, and Baby A’s first year was a fulfilling one in both ends. Here are some great books that Baby A and her friends loved at age one –
- Books by Julia Donaldson
We received a pack of 10 Julia Donaldson books for A’s first birthday and she took to them almost right away. Besides her classics like The Gruffalo, we especially enjoyed Cave Baby, Charlie Cook’s Favorite Book, The Snail and the Whale and Room on the Broom. Many of the books in this pack may come handy when the baby is older, but no two children are the same. This set of 10 books is an excellent way to tread into the imaginative world of Julia Donaldson and make for a valuable gift.
(If you are buying her books individually, also look at Monkey Puzzle and What the Ladybird Heard.)
- Suess Bright and Early Board Books
Dr. Suess books are always a great addition to a child’s library and for a one year old, I find the Bright and Early Board Books to be absolutely amazing. Our all-time favourites include Hop on Pop & Mr. Brown can Moo, Can You? Amazon.in also has the Little Blue Box of Bright and Early Board Books that is perfect for gifting and wholesome to go through.
- Melissa & Doug – K’s Kids Cloth Books
These books are tough to source in India but if you are able to have them shipped from the US, they are sure to impress anyone you gift them to. Baby A spent most of her first year playing with the Peekaboo cloth books and moved on to Dress-up Bear as she grew older. These books come in vibrant colours and were ideal on flights and long car rides. Gifting these to a one year old will get you some brownie points from a new mom.
One is also a great age to begin exploring some books by Lucy Cousin’s and one always has the ever popular Eric Carle books to fall back on. Have more recommendations for one year olds? Let me know in the comments!
